Stop Motion Animation

My friend Leah and I made a video about communication basing it on how people have forgotten to use their telephone to get a answer straight away instead they text or send emails. We did as it was part of cybersafety.  Something that stood out was learning how to use colour key even though sometimes it didn't work.  I liked moving the little lego people every so often even though it took for every.  I am still wondering what we should have done as a background instead.

Christmas letter - Gisborne herald

This is a letter I have written this letter to the Gisborne herald for a competition to win money or grocery vouchers.  The letter explains about what my family does for Christmas and what it means to us.  I have added a quote that I think means a lot " Sometimes the most real things in the world, Are the things we can't see"

Turn and Burn

This is a slide I created for cybersafety doing a slide animation. We did it because we had made a animation using stop motion animation so instead we used google slide.  Something that stood out to me was that we had a set limit of slides (40) but many went I over the limit (I didn't).  I liked shifting the person around every slide although it took for ages.  I am still wondering on what can I do to improve on.

This is a slide about the genius hour project that me and my friend Georgia are working on.  Genius hour is where you do a project on something that will contribute and make a difference to the world and other people's lives.  Me and Georgia chose to do a project about creating a website for farmers and lifestylers to look on and see where they should be at with their feed for their young stock/calves & lambs and transition between milk to grass and moozlee and also health and what to look out for and cures for that.

What to do when inappropriate behavior happens online

This is my poster I made so I know and others know what to do when something bad like inappropriate behavior happens online.  Sometimes bad things can happen even though we hope it doesn't. But it's always good to know what to do when it does.

 Animal health app

Animal health is a group that is a part of a agronomist business called "Seed's r us".  This app is to help farmers and see what we have been doing to help them believe that we are the right people for them.  The app was created by me and a partner for our group to see how our tests and experiments are going.

The history of Makaraka school

This is a slide about Makaraka school and how it has changed over the years, and what are the differences now.  Makaraka school is very unique to most schools because of its diversity in learning.

Makaraka school has experienced some big changes over the years and is yet to experience more as technology gets even more modern and the easier thing gets.  Makaraka school is a great school with a diverse learning curriculum to others.

The art of inspiration

This is a poster about a quote that inspires me and I hope will inspire others if they concentrate hard enough on their own inspirational quote.  I wish we could be kind to others and do what we love to do, not be someone else and have fun along the way.

I hope everyone has a quote of their own that they look at when they need that extra boost of belief.  People should be their own person but it's sad because so many of us are not.  we are our own person so we should be that person because no one else is going to fill those shoes.

Bad day turned good

This is a slide about what I do to cheer myself up after a bad day.  I hope other people can benefit from this as this may help us to become better people and look after each other.  People in our world right now are not as cheerful and happy as they used to be now days our world has become full of rotten, useless, no good people who have nothing to give but find ways to be lazy and express their pain by hurting someone else or even themselves.

Our world needs help to start become a safer place to be.  If I can start something that can help people benefit from it. Even though i'm only ten, imagine what everyone else can do.  Hopefully our world can become a place everyone wants to be and look after each other.  Just IMAGINE!!

Dear Staff and Students of Central School,
I am writing this letter to thank you for inviting our whole school to come and watch your school play.
I am a year 6 student and it is my last year at Makaraka School. I was very lucky to have watched your play this year
as I would not be able to watch it if it was next year, Thank you.  This is us - Anei Matou was a great topic to base your play
on as it had a great story behind it. Our school was excited by the performance and learning more about your school.
I liked the thoughts and effort you put into the play, because it showed how much you cared  about your school and the
performance. I found the change in your school over the years part of the play told me more and I learned more from it.
The different topic through the scenes was really interesting and I enjoyed it. Expressing the different and great things
about your school. You effort and commitment ment a lot in terms of acing
The props were just amazing as well as the costumes how could you have made giant Captain Cook’s and Kiwa’s was
awesome.  Your narrators were great and I liked the way you shared around the microphone. The performance on stage
and the way you remembered it all was great and I know how it feels when you have to remember lots of things (Stressful).
Your singing was outstanding. You are all very good performers from year 0-6.
Your school showed a great amount of courage and Kia mia ( standing proud ) for your school. Well done for your
performance it was a great experiences for our school and gave us more of an understanding and the background behind
your school.  Courage is the commitment to begin without any guarantee of success. Keep it up you should be very proud.
I hope you perform more plays over the year. You are on the way to fame.
Kind regards
Hannah

Trash Descriptive Writing

This is a description of the picture below.  We had to write one as a reading comprehension task on our novel Trash.  Over the weeks we have been reading trash as a class.  We have questions to answer about the chapters.  This is the description I have written, I hope you like it.

Trash - Novel
Trash
Description of picture

Introduction

The lights and the sounds of the city have always excited me.  But this was different. It was more like deathly and unknown to any one of Behala.  Hidden away unseen, unnoticed, alone it had been left for years and years. Twisted amongst the ever green it lay there with no one watching it slowly falling to pieces.  It’s still alive but barely breathing.

Your eyes because glazed over and tears ran down the slides of your cheeks yours eyes looking one side to the other.  You have to bit your lip tightly in attempt to hide any sound that wanted to escape from your mouth. The house was just heartbreaking, how can it have gotten so run down.   We are the ones who have done it. We talk about homelessness and yet here we are looking at rundown places like these. This house was the one to pay the price. Coming home is one of the most beautiful things, remember that.
It felt like a graveyard.  A shrill cry echoed in the mist.  Inside it must have been like a prison were there were no visitors I mean who want to visit a place like that.    Imagine if your parents tell you you’re moving across the country and thats the house your living in, that’s how lucky we are everyone these days takes everything for granted. Maybe someday we will live in a great world where everyone is grateful for everything our manners would be impeccable our oceans would be clean our environment would be even more beautiful just imagine .  People are not as lucky as us we should take that into consideration. Because the things you take for granted are the things others are praying for.

The only one in New Zealand

On the September 12 wednesday four yr 6 students from makaraka school went to Eastwood hill national arboretum of New Zealand.  One of the students was me we all with other schools learnt about the art of photography and got to take photos of our own.  We were lucky enough to have the opportunity.

We are going to the mindlab to edit our photos next term.  We will then be using the best photos and putting them on postcards to sell in tourist shops.  The money will go towards Eastwood hill and the Aurora programme.

We are the problem of today

This is my speech for 2018.  Our topic how can I contribute to the world to make it a better place.  My speech was about how everyone can do little things to become better people.  Becoming better people is a big step towards improvement.

When we wrote our speeches we had to include FEARRR a method to help us.  WE are learning more and more about writing and confidence, and speeches are one way of how they are going to get us achieving those goals to become not only better people but have the confidence in ourselves to be better people.

This is a presentation I did my speech on and it gave me ideas to help me write my speech it includes the FEARRR method as well.

Agricultural scientists

This is about our group greenhouse and how we are contributing to the world today.  We are looking at how we can make our world a better place and why we can make it a better place.  We are looking after the world around us you should too.

We are here to help our planet and right now our class is contributing to our world.  We want to look after our environment because we know New Zealand is very lucky compared to other places.   Why should we be caring for our environment? take a moment to think and then make a change.

Nailed It !

Nailed it !

Nailed it is my science fair project for this year.

Nailed it was shown by testing the woods with banging hammer stabilized on the bracket down on the wood were the nail was in the wood.  We then measured the movement of the nail after five bangs.  The two different nails we used were a bright steel nail and a galv nail.
Nailed it was to show people that banging a nail into wood isn't that easy.  Nailed it is about  the difference in banging different nails into different wood.  I did Nailed it because I was interested in finding reasonable solutions to make banging a nail easier.
I learnt that different woods and nails can impact different results in movement.  Something that stood out to me was making the experiment and seeing the results in the end .
I really liked banging the nail with the hammer and making loud noise.
The experiment overall was a lot of fun and I enjoyed the fun and excitement.  I learnt a lot.

Stock problems what should farmers do ?

This slideshow is to represent some problems that farmers can have with their animals.  Farmers are struggling right now with M bovis ( mycoplasma bovis ). Farmers are always struggling with people thinking it’s always them destroying waterways. Maybe right now we all should focus on how we can improve our meat and dairy reputation for new zealand by looking after the four legged friends that help us.

Whangara farms 11.6.2018

Whangara farms

We have been learning and looking at what farms do and today we learned more about Whangara farms our guides were Renee and Andrew. We have seen trials and new types of plants that people may not have heard of.  We have learnt some things of what farms do and how they control climate change and gravity.  We also have taken soil samples and our hoping to do some tests with the soil tomorrow.

We did it because we are learning and looking at what agronomists do and also what farmers can do to help their farm thrive.  We did it to learn more about farming as we are looking to make farms great.  We have already learnt about what one farm does now we have learnt about two.   We are getting better at taking samples and naming plants that we have seen.  We are also getting better at learning what it takes to make a farm great.

Something that stood out for me was how they were thinking of ways to stop erosion and keeping track of grass growth and what grows better in conditions.  Another thing was how they used special gadgets to get info for the farm to increase value in growth.  A key idea was that troughs were a better way of hydrating animals in the summer and that dams weren't doing a great job of hydrating animals.  We learnt that there are different ways to help your farm successful.

I liked learning about innovative ways to help a farm grows and produce healthy animals so they can get the most out of the profit of the animal.  I enjoyed learning how some grasses are better in different conditions. I liked how every farm has different ways to help them grow.

I am still wondering how long do they keep their animals before selling them.

Whatatutu school trip

Whatatutu school trip

This is my recount about our school trip to whatatutu.  We learnt about the story of Whirikoka and our generations and our waters and other stories and that Children are surrounded by people.  We went to Whatatutu because we wanted to learn more about the story of Whirikoka.  Something that stood out to me was that it took Marcus three years to build some of the PA site even though he's still got two more to build.  Learning about all the stories and memories was very amazing.  I liked looking in some of the whare's  that Marcus had built.  I'm still wondering how many hours a day whirikoka and ouioui played together and when did they meet.

Anzac biscuits

Our class made anzac biscuits to represent anzac day. Anzac stands for australian new zealand army corps ( anzac ) established in world war 1.  The biscuits were sent by wives and women's groups to soldiers abroad because the ingredients do not spoil easily and the biscuits kept well during naval transport.

RECIPE         Annabel Langbein's
Anzac biscuitsImage result for anzac biscuits

Prep time:      10 mins
Cook time:     20-25 mins
Makes:           about 30

Tips

Tip: If you don't have golden syrup you can use honey or maple syrup instead.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole grain rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup thread coconut
  • 1 cup soft brown sugar
  • ¼ cup golden syrup
  • 125g butter
  • 2 tbsp boiling water
  • ½ tsp baking soda

steps

  1. Preheat oven to 160°C fan bake and line 2 oven trays with baking paper for easy clean-up.
  2. Combine rolled oats, flour, coconut and sugar in a large bowl. Heat together golden syrup, butter and boiling water until butter melts. Stir in soda, then mix into dry ingredients until well combined.
  3. Roll mixture into balls slightly smaller than a golf ball and place on trays, allowing a little room for spreading. For biscuits that are crunchy on the outside but a little chewy inside, lightly flatten with a fork or damp fingers and bake until lightly golden (about 20 minutes). For chunky, super-hard biscuits, bake for about 30 minutes. For very crunchy thin biscuits, press dough very flat and bake for about 15 minutes

Observation.
Julia: Our group  name was HJLG that stands for Hannah,Julia,Lily and Gypsy. The were wet ingredients and dry. when I put the butter and golden syrup in the microwave and after when I took it out It smells Delicious. After rachel took them out they looked amazing it had a nice golden and brownish colour.
A few minutes later. We just tasted the Anzac biscuits and they were delicious I could really taste the golden syrup and rolled oats
Julia’s thoughts
My thoughts on the Anzac biscuits are that they smelt good and they are looking good and they taste good. They were a Ten out of Ten.
Gypsy: My thoughts Feels sticky but crumbly. Smelt obviously Delicious. And tasted delicious and you could taste the golden syrup. It was so fun to make and we all worked in a team.I thought that the baking was very easy And fun.
Lily: i thought that it was a fun and easy recipe. The wet ingredients smelt so good and the dry didn't have a smell, but they felt really greessey with the wet ingredients in it. The wet ingredients colour was  a yellow and the dry ingredients colour was beige. The taste was so delightful. it tasted so sweet and yum but after it makes you kind of thirsty.
Hannah’s observation: My observation was that after they were cooked they smelt yum and you could hardly resist them the colour was a golden brown.  The wet dry ingredients mix well together and the dry ingredients did not take over the wet ingredients or the wet ingredients did not take over the dry ingredients.  The anzac biscuits felt lite, golden and crunchy. The taste was delightful and crunchy.
Hannah’s thoughts:My thoughts are that the anzac biscuits are yum and crunchy and lite to eat.

Goal of the week

Here are my goals for Term 1.  Each week we write goals and reflect on last week's goal.  We try to achieve our goals each week and if we haven't we set them again. We also reflect on a different quote each week to which help us to set our goals. The quotes have a special message for how we should be working.
